SMARTCUT #4: Use the Right Tools

There are a myriad of different tools available to help streamline the work process.

  • Need to arrange a meeting with multiple people? Send a Doodle poll or use another booking system instead of having emails flying back and forth. And don’t forget to use an agenda with set timings when running the meeting as well!
  • Want to avoid distractions and focus on your work? Get an internet blocker like Freedom.to and/or a pomodoro timer.
  • Do you plan better when using lists? Check out Workflowy.
  • Like to see all of your tasks at once? Give Trello a go.
  • Live in your inbox like I do? Consider signing up for Follow Up Then.
  • What can you automate or outsource? If you have the budget, consider hiring a virtual assistant to free up a few hours.

Taking a little time NOW to look at our daily activities and figuring out where a tool would be beneficial is the ultimate smartcut: it can save a lot of time over the course of months and years.
